Mountain bike downhill around the Hochkönig
Kick on the mountain
Downhill, it's all about the all-terrain rides. On mountain bikes or on special downhill bikes, go down the mountain with natural obstacles and difficulties. Coming down the mountain in one piece demands a lot of practice, strength and stamina. From easy downhill rides to pro-trails; you will find many downhill opportunities on the Salzburg Mountains.
Steep slopes, crunching bumps and breathtaking steps: the most challenging terrain is the most interesting for downhill rides. Every downhill racer needs endurance, concentration and of course strength in order to have full control over his or her bike at all times. Sharp responsiveness is also demanded in order to overcome the obstacles. Pros can reach a speed of up to 70-80km/h during a downhill ride.
Toni's Family Bike Trail
A moderate downhill trail for the whole family starts at the Karbachalm in Mühlbach. The Karbachalm cable car will take the bikers with their mountain bikes up to the starting point. The adventure begins at the mountain station: along the forest roads and over ski runs you go downhill on your bike until you reach the valley station. On a length of 6.5km and an altitude difference of about 700m every fit mountain biker can try his or her first downhill attempts here. On top of it all, there's the breathtaking Hochkönig panorama.
If you are around with your e-bike you can easily charge it in the mountain restaurant Karbachalm and enjoy meanwhile some ice cream or a tasty dish. There is also a washing bay for your bike next to the valley station.
Leogang Bike Park
The Leogang Bike Park is definitely one of Austria's most outstanding bike parks and you can reach it within about half an hour from Mühlbach. Various downhill tracks, single trails and freeride trails offer a wide range attractions for adrenaline junkies. There is also the special Kids Mini Bikepark for children, which is the biggest of its kind in Europe.
